St Leonard’s is the oldest building in Streatham. It has been offering Christian worship and ministering to the community for many centuries and this continues today.
We are a Church of England church and a part of the Diocese of Southwark.
Our worship is fairly traditional (we enjoy singing hymns, have a wonderful choir and celebrate Holy Communion at our main Sunday service every week). However, we are not at all stuffy! We like to think that our services are ‘holy & homely’; where everyone feels comfortable and welcome.
We are proud of our diversity, because it genuinely reflects the wider community of Streatham, and the warm welcome we extend to all people at St Leonard’s. We are members of Inclusive Church, which is a group of Christians united around the following statement:
“We believe in inclusive Church – church which does not discriminate, on any level, on grounds of economic power, gender, mental health, physical ability, race or sexuality. We believe in Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.”
Our vision is simply to grow together in the way of ‘Faith, Hope and Love’ as taught by Jesus.
This is expressed through our worship, our relationships with one another, in our care of creation and in loving service towards our neighbours
Please come and join us for one of our services or simply call in and enjoy a beautiful and sacred space to be still and pray on Monday’s and Wednesdays between 12am-2pm.
