What We Believe

There is so much to discover about the Christian Faith.

St Leonard’s is part of the Church of England, which is one of many different traditions within the Global Christian Church. You can find out more about The Church of England here.

However, at St Leonard’s we try hard to keep things as simple as we can, and so in short…

We are followers of Jesus!

By this we mean that we have faith in the person, teaching and example of Jesus who lived in Palestine 2000 years ago and who’s story is told in the Gospels.

This is because we believe that through Jesus ‘God is with us’ and that Jesus both taught and showed us that ‘God is love and those who live in love live in God and God lives in them.’ (1 John 4 :16)

Jesus taught that the most important thing about being one of his followers is to love God and to love others.

Christians from the earliest of days were called people of ‘The Way’ and this meant ‘The Way of Jesus’.

We at St Leonard’s do our best to follow ‘the way’ of Jesus, which we believe is the way of God.

We do this because we believe that this is how we can best cherish our world and each other, whether friend or stranger.

We also believe that following ‘in the way of Jesus’ enables us to become the sort of people God created us to be through the work of the Holy Spirit in us.

Working out what this means and how to do it is a life long journey.

At St Leonard’s we are doing our best to work that out together.

You are warmly welcome to join us!
