We are proud of our wonderful church school and have a very special relationship with it. The Rector is a governor (as are other members of the church), takes regular assemblies, and has an active role in pastoral matters.
St Leonard’s is not a school exclusively for Christians, but it is a school through which the Christian faith and the Anglican tradition is taught and Christian values promoted.
Demand for places at St Leonard’s is high and priority is given to children whose families regularly attend St Leonard’s church. The admission criteria defines this as twice a month for a minimum of two years.
A Welcome from the Headteacher
At the heart of Streatham’s community for over two hundred years, St Leonard’s Church of England Primary school is an expanding school which aims to nurture and inspire all its children in order to prepare them for an exciting and successful future in an ever changing world. We opened our Nursery and took our first two form entry of Reception aged children in September 2016. We have very high expectations of our staff, pupils and parents so that each child has the best chance to achieve within a mutually supportive community.
We aim to serve our community by providing education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. Through innovative teaching and working together, we foster independence, respect for one another and a love of learning. We encourage and nurture an understanding of the Gospel, promoting the Christian values of Faith, Hope and Love to all our pupils and their families. As such, we hope that our school will become the school of choice, not only for the local Christian community, but also for people of other faiths or of none.
We welcome visits to the school from prospective parents. Please telephone us on 020 8769 2712 to make an appointment.
