We are delighted to announce that St Leonard’s has received initial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to repair the roof and make necessary internal improvements.
Development funding of £28,000 has been awarded to help St Leonard’s Church progress their plans to apply for a full grant at a later date. This grant means we are now confident that the long-term sustainability not only of the fabric of the church, but of the service the church provides to society will be secured.
Milly Clemenson, who is chair of the fundraising committee comments:
“We are absolutely delighted to have passed the first round and to have been awarded development funding support. Securing the full grant will ensure that this unique space will now be serviceable for a local community that is short of good places to work and celebrate together. St Leonard’s has been welcoming the community for 1,000 years and this grant will mean it can continue to do so for some years to come.”
St Leonard’s has organised several events to raise awareness of the church, its history and the HLF funding grant, which provides a platform for our on-going fundraising development. Events included a quiz night last Saturday, a children’s singing event in June and we have an open history day planned in September, hosted by the Streatham Society.
